Borgo A Mozzano, Italy

$125.00

In 1992, I lived in Seville, Spain. One day, a letter arrived in the mail from my aunt in New York. She explained how she had bought a 100 year old, abandoned, stone farm house in rural Italy. She had more or less purchased it sight-unseen and knew going in it was a “fixer-upper,” and invited me to meet her there in the coming summer to see what she had bought and help get it fixed up a bit. So, of course I’m up for an adventure, and in June, I made my way to Borgo A Mozzano via train. It took a while to find it on a map, let alone make the journey by train. Indeed the house needed some work, but, from that summer on, my aunt and cousin have continued to work on their house and it is nothing less than magical. I’ve had the pleasure to visit 4 or 5 times since that first summer, and it continues to be my favorite place in the world.
