The 1966 Volkswagen, Type 2, 23-window “Samba,” bus is a true classic and the first bus I remember riding in as a kid in the 1970s. Growing up, we had a ‘73 bus in “Sunbrite Yellow,” but the ‘66 has always been my favorite. Fortunately, next door to my print shop is a retired German auto mechanic who has the color codes for 1960s VW paint and was able to help me mix the “Velvet Green,” color to stay true to the original VW paint from 1966.
